Cows

Yes, I like cows and my father is a proud owner of some. Our cows are not normal because they are a type of fighting cows. Each year they go up near the top of mountains during six months. At the end we can see the fear of a cow in the herd. This cow is one which had won many fights during the summer, she will then become a price because she is the queen of the alp. There are other prices reporting to the milk production or for the males there are any beauty contests (It's not a joke, there are many competitions in Switzerland!). In my country cows are an important part of the peasantry and that's not only because of the milk. In our mountains, we are proud to have a good gladiator who also makes milk for our good cheese.

August 1

On August 1 is National Day in Switzerland. On more reason to drink good wine and to enjoy the rockets which were exploding in the sky. My godfather also made a big fire to light up the night and to warm us. To appreciate all this, I moved with my family to our cottage. We had a good evening and I look forward to next year for another beautiful National Day. This year we were lucky, it stopped just for those few days of celebration.
I still have to practise for better pictures at night, so quality is somewhat poor.

Alps

The sun has finally shone in Switzerland and I took my Nikon to enjoy the landscape of the Alps. I also took some pictures of my village, Grimentz.
Today, it's raining but it doesn't matter. Thanks to this I don't need to scoop up the hay, but it's boring to stay here because I don't know what to do, if it rains.

Hello Hong Kong, I came to look if you are better than the big apple and I have to say... Hong Kong becomes the first place in my heart! The town is awesome with all those buildings. With my 187cm I felt very small next to those monsters. My mother told me many buildings names but I must confess that I was so much impressed that I didn't noticed. Something I remember is what I did those 48 hours there:

H-11:30

Boarding in Zurich, my mother was already in the plane because she is flight attendant. I waited for my place. I was anxious but also very happy to have the chance to go there [...]

During the flight I watch a movie, listen to music... sleep...

Left, right... everywhere are chinese people. I'm in the airport of Hong Kong! Monday, Mai 9 17:30.

First evening:

In the bus that taked us to the hotel I spoke with the commandant of our plane. It was funny because he mixes german and english when he speaks. The hotel was very good (Novotel) and I went with my mother in the town where we ate in a chinese restaurant. We ended the evening with a small shopping because the shops are closing at 23:30.

Day 1:

My mother and I went to two different markets. One was on the other side of the island and I was very impressed that the bus was traveling fast on a very small road without problems. The landscape was beautiful. It was a contrast between the town and the natur that I liked.

In the evening we went to the peak to have a beautiful view of Hong Kong but they are many tourists there and it's not interesting to wait 30 minuts to take the next tram but the view was enough good to keep smiling.

In the same evening I had the chance to know that I don't like thai food and my mother had some fun about it.

Day 2:

Shopping, shopping, shopping... Nothing else because we tried to have an afternoon tee but the dress code was to high for two swiss tourists. My mother went to bed in the afternoon because she has to work in the evening also I went to the pool of the hotel. Before the leaving from the hotel I went to drink a coffee because I like those big size that I don't drink at home.

23:00 Flight Hong Kong - Zurich... It was the worst flight I ever had because I could not sleep during the twelve and half hour. But before the landing I had the chance to go in the cockpit to see how they land. It was a good experience and I had to laugh when we was near to drive over a fox which played on the runway.

Day 5 in Switzerland:

I'm missing Hong Kong, please find me a home there!

Spring is here!

I wish to have sun, I wish to be warm, I wish to walk in the streets only with a t-shirt... I wish to be in summer! This year our spring is like an hot summer and I can't be unpleased with that.
With some teachers and all the physics and mathematics students, we went to the Simplon wich is a mountain pass to learn more about the stars. It was very good and we had some funny times with my team when we had to learn more about the dark matter which is difficult to explain in less than twenty minuts.

After all this hard work we made a trip to find a ''beiz'' (it's a word we use for restaurants) where we could drink a beer. During the walking I took some pictures of the beautiful landscape between our mountains. I hope you will enjoy those pictures which are, I think, pretty good.

Alles was schön ist, hat immer ein Ende. Die Ferien sind für manche schon vorbei und für mich fangen sie gerade an. Da es bald kein Schnee mehr gibt, vorbereite ich mich für die Sommerferien, die gar nicht mehr so weit sind. Ein bisschen Sunnencrem und ein kleinen Cocktail auf der Terasse, so soll das Skifahren sein! Wir haben bei uns kein Gletscher um den Schnee zu garantieren, doch haben die Leute gut gearbeitet um uns bis am nächsten Sonntag Pisten zu versichern. Ich gratulieren ihnen für das Resultat und hoffe noch genügend zu fahren um während den Sommer der Schnee nicht zu sehr zu vermissen.

Tout a une fin, et pour les pistes de Grimentz c'est tout bientôt. Les remontées mécaniques fonctionnent encore à plein régime malgré la chaleur qui me donne plutôt envie de m'asseoir sur une terasse avec un bon petit cocktail. Le Snowpark se dégrade, les pistes ne sont plus que de longues bandes enneigées au milieu des rochers mais malgré cela j'aimerai remercier ces gens qui ont travaillé toute la saison pour nous garantir ce résultat. Je continue à skier durant mes vacances en espérant ne pas trop avoir envie de retourner sur les pistes au milieu de l'été.

Only because I want to runaway, see something else than my mountains... I don't want to go to the college no more, everybody should be like a bird which can fly away and think to nothing else than be free. I enjoy my life here in Switzerland, but my passion is to travel! Who wants to come with me, in another country, in a beautiful place?

Grimentz is on fire! 


We all have holidays and we can see many german, britisch and french tourists. It's good not to be alone to drink some beers at the Country Pub. I hope everybody enjoy the beautiful snow and the perfect weather. On this picture right down, you can see what could be named as the ''love train''. I think somebody with a bike can be faster than it and it's so romantic to be alone with a girl on this old chair lift.
You have not to be afraid, we have many others installations which are much younger.

Yes, Switzerland is expensive because of the Euro crisis but it's worth it to enjoy the good conditions and the partys.
